In our consulting practice we are:

  • Guided by the principles of Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Informed by of the history of colonization, the impact of Residential Schools and the on-going intergenerational impact on individuals, families, and communities with respect to culture, language, and identity.

Sovereignty and Self-Determination

In our consulting practice we respect:

  • First Nation, Inuit, & Metis right to exercise sovereignty, and self-determination.
  • The uniqueness and cultural differences found within all First Nation, Inuit, & Metis communities and Nations.

Indigenous Knowledge and Ways of Being

In our consulting practice we:

  • Apply Indigenous knowledge when working with Indigenous leadership, families, and communities.
  • Honour the role of Elders and traditional knowledge keepers.
  • Incorporate theories, philosophies, history, ceremony, and stories as ways of knowing and being consistent with the communities’ beliefs.

Collaboration

In our consulting practice we:

  • Connect with Indigenous communities with authenticity, respect, and cultural humility.        
  • Involve our Indigenous clients in the design, implementation, and decision-making processes in all aspects of the work.
  • Apply a systemic approach in  understanding  the broader social, economic, historical, and political context of the community.

  • Based on a holistic approach that embraces the strengths, skills, knowledge, talents, and resiliency of the community.
  • Trauma informed and sensitive to the needs of those with whom we are engaging.

Culturally Based Equity

In our consulting practice:

  • We advocate for equitable access to needed services and resources.
  • We are knowledgeable about ongoing systemic racism and discrimination. We take responsibility for addressing racism when we encounter it.
